Child Development Center
To provide quality childcare that promotes an environment that is nurturing, loving, trusting, secure, safe, healthy and positive.
We strive to meet each child’s social, emotional and intellectual needs to instill in each child a feeling of competence and positive self-concept. We value and support our staff through staff development and continuing education so they become even better equipped to support the individual needs of children.
- Children 6 weeks to 5 years of Active-Duty personnel, DoD civilians and DoD contractors may use services.
- Children do not need to be command sponsored to enroll in Korea.
- All children must be eligible to receive regular medical treatment at a US Medical Facility (i.e. Humphreys Medical Clinic).
- Emergency contacts must have access to the base.
- Priority is given to single and dual military/DA civilians, then to the military member/DA civilian with a working spouse then to all other eligible categories.
We do not provide care to Korean military, KN employees, bank employees or AAFES employees unless bank or AAFES employee is a spouse of an active duty military or DoD civilian.
- Registration and Fees
Parent Central Services is the central point of contact for registration and participation in all CYS Services.
The Parent Central staff is here to assist you in placing your child in the location and facility that best meets the needs of you and your child. Our office can provide you with information, resources and support to help you make a well-informed child care decision.
To register your child for any of our child care options, you must complete and submit a registration packet. Fees on based on total family income.
- Training and Curriculum
The Training and Curriculum Specialists (TACS) ensure the curriculum provided in our programs is age appropriate and provides developmental learning activities. The TACSs also plan, track, and provide training for employees and parents. Each center has 1-2 TACS depending on the size of the facility. They monitor the execution of the program requirements, ensure staff training, assess environmental and program quality, role model developmentally appropriate practices, and work cohesively with the specified Program Director.
Our center has been accredited through the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) since April 2007. Accreditation is a nationally recognized credential for a developmental appropriate early childhood program. This credential recognizes programs that provide high quality care and education for young children. The purpose of becoming accredited is to continue to learn and improve the quality of our programs for young children. Our ratios are as follows: Infants 1:4, Pre-toddlers 1:5, Toddlers 1:7, Preschool 1:10.
- Strong Beginnings Pre-K
The Army's Pre-Kindergarten program, “Strong Beginnings - Building Foundations for Learning,” focuses on language and reading, mathematics, science, computers, social studies and the arts and helps prepare children for kindergarten. The Pre-K program operates 3 hours per day, Monday - Friday, from 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. with before and after care as a wrap around service to support the full CDC operating hours of 6 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Please contact Parent Central Services for more information.
- Mother and Baby Room
The Child Development Center offers a Mother and Baby Room. This is a one of a kind place for mothers to spend quiet time with their newborns. USAG Humphreys is the only CDC in Korea to offer this setting.
Mothers and babies can rock in the rocking chair while listening to calming music. The room also includes a parent resource library for all parents to check out books that pertain to their child.
- Employment Opportunities
As USAG Humphreys continues to grow, there will be more and more opportunities for full and part-time employment with Child, Youth and School Services. Please contact the Civilian Personnel Advisory Center at (315)753-3954 / COMM 05033-53-3954 for information.
