Intramural Sports offers a variety of sports throughout the year including men's and women's basketball, softball, flag football, soccer, rugby, volleyball and much more. Intramural sports are open to all Department of Defense active and retired military, civilian and Family Members ages 18 and over at no cost.

All Army Sports provides athletically skilled Soldier athletes the opportunity to excel at the highest levels while competing for our Army and our country. Soldier/athletes train and compete in individual and team sports. The best may find themselves competing against Air Force, Marine and Navy athletes on a national level in Armed Forces championships. The best military athletes may even advance to compete on an international field of play against athletes from around the world. All Army Sports also contributes to the Soldier/athlete's readiness and overall well-being. When finished with competition, Soldiers return to their unit in better physical condition, along with a new appreciation of team building and enhanced leadership skills. Their unique perspective as a Soldier/athlete and first hand-experience gained in competing on the international stage makes them better athletes, but more importantly, better Soldiers. The espirit de corps and camaraderie developed on the field of play stays with Soldier/athletes long after they return to their unit, strengthening the bond between them and their fellow Soldiers. Eligibility and priority of use (as stated in Command Policy #21) is as follows:

ROCK CLIMBING INFORMATION
NOTE: Rock Climbing Wall is open during staffed hours only (Wall is closed and off limits during 24/7 unstaffed access
STEP 1: Interested Patrons must Sign a Registration Form/Liability Waiver and review all climbing wall rules.
STEP 2: Interested patrons must pass an assessment in order to use Rock Climbing Wall on a self-directed basis. During assessment climbers will be assessed on the following:
- 1. Climbing Skills- Demonstrate confidence / awareness of feet and rope.
- 2. Proper Lead Climbing Clipping Technique
- 3. Belay Skill for Lead Climber and Top Rope Climber
- 4. Safety Checking and Climbing Communication Skill
STEP 3: If Climber passes required assessment criteria, they will receive 1 of 2 card types:
- 1. AUTO BELAY ONLY: Climber may only use auto belay system (with at least one lead climber)
- 2. ALL (LEAD CLIMBING): Climber may use all areas of climbing wall (with at least one lead climber)
*Climbers that do not demonstrate safe usage of climbing wall will not be able to utilize wall and will have to be reassessed at a later time.

ROCK CLIMBING WALL RULES:
a. Climbing wall is not available during unstaffed hours.
b. Climbers must be age 18 or older (17 if active duty).
c. Climbers must receive an orientation prior to initial use of climbing wall.
d. Climbers must have at least 1 partner at all times: Auto Belay Climbers AND Lead Climbers must be accompanied by at least one other Lead Climbing Membership card holder.
e. Staff has the right to enforce any additional rules or close routes if they feel the situation is unsafe.
f. Proper attire must be worn at all times. Climbing bare foot is not authorized. Closed toe and closed heel shoes are required.
g. If harness does not fit properly, staff may insist on an alternative harness or may not allow climbing. You may still boulder.
h. Absolutely no horseplay will be allowed.
i. Climbers and belayers that appear to be intoxicated or under the influence of drugs will not be allowed to participate in the use of the rock-climbing wall.
j. Any violations of the rules will result in suspension of climbing privileges.

- Each course is 4 weeks (4 sessions)
- Each course is capped at 6 participants, 4 minimum required. (If not enough sign-ups for a course, registrations will get automatically moved to the next course.)

- Classes are Wednesdays during course dates, from 1700 - 1830
- Age limit: 18 years or older (17 if Active Duty)
Course covers the basics of rock climbing, with a skill verification test at the end. The skill verification test, if passed, issues users a membership card to utilize the rock climbing wall and sign out gear during staffed hours. Those who fail the assessment are prohibited from using the rock wall and are encouraged to retake the course. (Passing the assessment is entirely the course participants' responsibility.)
- First week session – Gaining muscle Strength for rock climbing
- Bouldering under the Red line tape without ropes.
- Second week session – Top rope climbing using a rope and harness, and auto belay device.
- Third week session – Lead climbing using quickdraws clipping with auto belay device.
- Fourth week session - Lead climbing using a rope and harness without auto belay device.
Basic Rock Climbing Class:
At the end of a Basic Climbing class participants must be able to demonstrate the following in order to receive a membership card.
1. How to properly fit a harness and double back all buckles.
2. How to properly tie the bowline on a bite with a stopper back-up knot.
3. How to attach two locking carabiners to the harness, opposite and opposed.
4. How to properly load the ATC belay device.
5. How to properly connect the belay system to the belayer harness.
6. How and when to use proper climbing commands.
7. Proper belay technique without a climber tied in.
8. Ability to take the slack out of the belay system appropriately.
9. Proper belay technique while a climber ascends.
10. Ability to manage and provide safe & controlled descent.
11. The ability to properly catch a climber during multi-stage falls.

Kicking Off Monday, September 30, with clinics recurring every 1st and 3rd Monday from 1800-1930 at Zoeckler Fitness Center.
Receive 90 minutes of certified instruction and structured practice for beginner Pickleball players.
Pickleball Beginner Clinics will cover Pickleball rules, how the game is played, serving, returning the ball, scoring, playing at the Non-Volley Zone (NVZ) AKA -Kitchen, common equipment (paddles, shoes, etc) and Q&As as needed.
Clinics include warm up stretches, drills, movement and partner communication tactics followed by round robin group play.

BASKETBALL COURT LIMITED ACCESS

From 14 Jan 2025 to 1 Mar 2025, Zoeckler Fitness Center is supporting Youth Sports on Basketball Court 1 Mondays through Thursdays from 1700-2100. Collier Community Fitness Center courts remain available in support of Intramural Basketball Leagues and community use.
The Aerobics Room is prioritized for Youth Sports on Tuesdays and Thursday from 1700 – 1830.

Zoeckler Fitness Center offers cardiovascular equipment, a comprehensive weight room, basketball court, aerobic and spin room and a functional fitness area.
Youth Use Policy
IAW AR 215-1 (8-2d): Youth ages 13-15 years old may use gym equipment if they are supervised by a parent or guardian participating in the same activity, at the same time. Youth 12 years and younger must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian and cannot use: treadmills, elliptical machines, stationary bikes or any other mechanical equipment, free weight and machines, saunas or jacuzzi area.
An exception for use: Youth may use gym equipment if participating in special programs such as child, youth and school service programs, school activities and other sanctioned youth organizations.
Personal Training Policy
IAW DoDI 5000.64, AR 215 and Code of Federal Regulations Title 5 §2635.704, it is unethical and illegal to utilize government property for anything outside of its intended purpose and authorized use, especially with regards to personal gain.
**Family and MWR has several contracted, certified Personal Trainers who are vetted and authorized to offer services in Family and MWR Fitness Centers. Individuals not under contract with Family and MWR are not authorized to advertise or conduct Personal Training services in Family and MWR facilities, including but not limited to Collier, Zoeckler, Sitman or Turner.**
